The Kronos by Furnace Industries
You’ve heard whispers about it for years. You’ve seen the pictures and videos online and you’ve read the reviews on how awesome these tools are. Well we can serve as confirmation that these babies rock on ice. We got a chance to test these bad boys last year out in Ouray, Colorado during the Ouray Ice Climbing Festival. Furnace Industries was there with a limited number of demo tools and we quickly snatched them up and took them for a spin on some WI4 and WI5 Terrain in the Ouray Ice Park.
We are so stoked that Ben will be here this year handing out demo’s to clinic participants and the public. If you are looking to test these things out during the ice bash weekend, January 22nd-24th, then come to the demo pickup station early to grab yourself a pair for the day. Oh, and don’t forget your wallet when you come to return them, you’re going to want to buy a pair!
The Kronos is the worlds first ‘T’ rated and CE Certified technical ice tool made entirely of wood. What’s that mean to you you ask? This means that the Kronos can handle some serious abuse and brush it off like it’s no big deal. ‘T’ (technical) rated ice tools are tested in both the shaft and pick for their strength and durability. To be rated to this standard they go through vigorous testing and this is the highest level any Technical Ice Tool can be certified too.
To learn all about the Kronos, head on over to their website, www.dryicetools.com , and drool over their pictures and read through the description of what went into this beautifully crafted ice tool and how they wear over time.
Not going to be around for the climbing clinics on the weekend then come test out a pair of their Dry Ice Tools during the Dry-tool Comp and kickoff party Friday Night. Furnace Industries makes a sweet pair of indoor indoor tools to get the grips strength for winter climbing or just to have fun and train indoors. Dry Ice Tools are made entirely of wood and have a flexible rubber upper to allow for good grip and safe handling on indoor gym walls.
